We're thankful we were able to see and experience our first snowfall. However, that stuff is cold!!! Mom Paula let us step into the cold, white stuff for a few minutes, but when we started getting curious and started moving around on the deck, she shooed us back into the house. We're very thankful we have a warm house to stay in when it's this cold outside.
We'll share more photos of the snow over the next few days, but in the meantime, we're going to stay inside and just look at it from our window.
We received a request to sample a new treat that is being sold by chewy.com. The treats are Orijen Freeze Dried Cat Treats and boy are they delicious as well as good for us! The unique thing about Orijen food and treats is that they are biologically appropriate made from fresh regional ingredients. There are five different flavors of the Orijen treats and they Loaded with 100% cage-free poultry, nest-laid eggs, wild-caught fish and ranch-raised meats delivered fresh and then gently freeze dried. We received the Original Flavor to try.
The Original Flavor has ingredients listed as Chicken liver, turkey liver, boneless chicken, boneless turkey, boneless flounder. Mom Paula was a little worried about allowing Truffle to have the flounder since her tummy has reacted violently to herring in one of the Orijen dry foods, but to our pleasure, Truffle's tummy handled these treats great! It's a good thing too because Truffle was the first to climb on top of Mom Paula to try out the new treat.
The food and treats made by Orijen are delivered to their kitchens FRESH DAILY! Orijen doesn't outsource their food and treats to a third-party factory. Orijen's philosophy is that their food and treats for cats is biologically appropriate. This means that their food "mirrors the freshness and variety of meats that cats would naturally hunt in the wild and for which they are evolved to eat." The Original Flavor we received to try contained fresh cage-free chicken and turkey from local farms and fresh wild-caught flounder from North Vancouver's pristine Pacific Ocean. These treats are so delicious and have an easy shape to eat that Brulee was eating them right out of Mom Paula's fingers with no problems.
Currently, these Orijen Original Freeze-Dried Cat Treats are selling at $5.49 for a 1.25 ounce bag. We know these may be a little expensive for some of our furriends, but they are right in line with the other healthy, freeze-dried treats Mom Paula is giving us now. We definitely plan on trying the other flavors and now want to try the dry food (not the fish flavor) because we love these so much. Just look at that satisfied face on Brulee!
We have a short little video for you to see how much we enjoyed the Orijen Original Freeze-Dried treats. As usual. as soon as Mom Paula opened the bag, Truffle was all over her.
We received these treats free from chewy.com to sample and were not compensated for our review. The comments above are our honest opinions of these delicious treats. Thank you chewy.com for allowing us to participate in this test. We hope we passed.
We like nothing more than our "together" time with Mom Paula first thing in the morning. We haven't had too much time in the bed together lately because she's been sleeping in the recliner because of her shoulder.
Brulee and Truffle
However, this past weekend, Mom Paula crawled into the bed with us for a little while for us to rekindle our morning routine of lovin' and pettin'. We hope you enjoy this little video of our session. Some of your humans may be old enough to remember the song, too. MOL! Mom Paula said this song just popped into her head when she was watching the video.
We're thankful Mom Paula's swollen foot/ankle has gone from this . . .
Brulee: That's ugly!
to this . . .
Truffle: I think it's time for a pedicure!
Thank you for all of your purrs and purrayers. Mom Paula goes back to the orthopedic surgeon for her 1st follow-up appointment today. She's still experiencing pain and her shoulder is swollen, but she is progressing as she should.
Pee ess - We still have two extra Cats of the CB Calendars we'd like to get rid of. If anyone would like one, please email us at email@example.com. We may even have a deal for you!
Since we were so thankful yesterday about our Ess scratchers, we thought we'd go back to our first days as kittens with Mom Paula to show us playing on our Ess scratchers. Truffle was a 5 months old and Brulee was a little over 2 months old.
Don't you just love the look on their faces? "What! We were just playing!"
This video is from November 2011, right after Brulee came to live with us. We hope you enjoy a little Flashback Friday with us today.
We're thankful for our ess scratching furniture. Our grandma Faye bought the first one for Truffle and Angel Beignet. Truffle immediately claimed it as her until until Brulee showed up and then there was constant "battles" for who would be on the ess.
Brulee and Truffle (November 2011)
Chey saw how much we loved our ess and offered to send us one that they never used. Brulee immediately claimed this one as hers!
Truffle and Brulee (April 2012)
Thanks to Grandma Faye and Chey we now have two esses! We like to use them as launching pads as we play with our wand toys.
Courtney playing with Truffle and Brulee (March 2013)
Brulee still loves both of the esses and likes to lie down in the lower curve and prop her floofy little front paws on the upper curve.
Brulee on the ess from Grandma Faye
Truffle likes to use her ess from Chey and her tunnel from Jacqueline's Cat House to hide from Brulee to launch a surprise attack.
We are very excited because we received The Versatile Blogger Award from The Kitty Corner. We've received some other awards recently, but unfortunately we haven't been able to participate or post because of Mom Paula's injury, surgery, and recuperation. However, we decided to sit in our office chair and stare at Mom Paula until she helped us this time.
The Versatile Blogger Award has some rules we must follow in order to accept and they are as follows:
Accept the nomination: Thank the person from whom you received the nomination and provide a link to their blog
List 7 things about myself
Nominate 15 blogs for The Versatile Blogger Award
A special thank you goes to The Kitty Corner for sending us this award. We'd never met our new furriends from The Kitty Corner, so this was a wonderful way to make new furriends.
Seven things about us that you may or may not know.
We're half sisters. We have the same daddycat, Jayden, who is so handsome. He has recently been retired and is looking for a one-cat home to live in. We know Mom Terri will find him the very best home to live in because she loves all of her kitties.
We're Silver Shaded Persians, which is recognized by the Cat Fanciers' Association. The exquisite silvers are considered the most ethereal of all Persians. The chinchilla is a sparkling white cat with black tipping scattered as evenly as stardust, ever so lightly, on the face, legs, tail and body. Shadeds show a mantle of black on the back, shading evenly down the sides. The tipping on the legs and face should match and is darker than the chinchilla. Goldens are either chinchilla or shaded. Their ground color is a rich, warm cream tipped with black. Silvers and goldens have green or blue-green eyes rimmed with black, black paw pads and brick red or rose nose leather. The Fancy Feast Cats are silver shaded and chinchilla Persians. Truffle is more shaded and doesn't have the red nose. Brulee is lightly shaded with the red nose and almost qualifies as a chinchilla.
We are born very dark and turn white as we get older. The picture below is Truffle and Angel Beignet with their mom kitty, Chloe.
Brulee's momkitty, Mikayla, is a Golden Shaded Persian. Mom Paula was hoping for a little golden kitten, but there can only be a golden kitten if both parents are goldens. Isn't Mikayla beautiful? The picture below is Brulee with her littermates and momkitty, Mikayla.
We are registered kitties with the Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA) and we have fancy names. Truffle is Crystalpurrs Truffle Blanche and Brulee is Crystalpurrs Creme Brulee.
We came to live with Mom Paula a little over 2 years ago, after our sister-before-us, Sweet Praline went to the bridge. Sweet Praline started blogging in 2008 and was known as the Diva of the CB. Sweet Praline is still a part of our lives and has introduced us to so many kitties and she brought us to Mom Paula.
We live with Mom Paula in South Carolina. The three of us are true Southern ladies and also consider ourselves to be Steel Magnolias.
We know a lot of our furriends have already received this award, so we're just going to let anyone who hasn't received the award to feel free to take it. We hope you've enjoyed learning a little bit about us.
Pee ess - Many of you are asking about Mom Paula's shoulder and foot. Her shoulder is getting better each day (the range of motion) with the help of PT, even though it still hurts. Her foot is much better since she's been elevating it. Thank you for all of your purrs and purrayers.
